CAPTURE FOR HEALTHCARE
Healthcare Information Management Challenges Both Deep & Wide
Health Services Organizations continue to have a proliferation of documentation. Within provider organizations there are medical records, admission documents, protocols and procedures for care, advanced directives and normal operating documents like purchase orders, invoices, bills of lading and human resource applications. For payers, operating documents exist as well, but also claims, patient records, underwriting documents, license bureau applications, and accreditation documentation. With all this content, there is overwhelming need to manage this information, specifically through document capture. Unfortunately, tradition capture has presented a variety of challenges, from manual indexing to skewed or hard-to-read data. But the biggest challenge has been that traditional scanning solutions are limited to paper capture at specific scanning station locations, restricting volumes and the type of information that organizations can capture.

Healthcare Providor & Payer Use Case
A health services organization operates a 1,200 bed, teaching hospital and also provides healthcare through a state designated Trama Center, 45 ancillary physician centers, 25 lab and radiological care facilities across four counties. It also owns and operates a payer organization, offering HMO, POS and PPO products to the largest employer groups in the area. More than 1,600,000 patients are treated each year at the hospital and out-patient services. Its payer division services 700,000 insured statewide. Independent and proprietary imaging systems across the organization have resulted in information silos and inordinate IT maintenance. By deploying ILINX Capture, the organization can not only consolidate its capture system, but it can enable any of its employees, physicians and nursing staff to capture information right at their desktop for any type of transaction. The simple to use interface allows even the most experienced doctors and senior nursing staff to easily get documentation in to the electronic medical record. The easy-to-master user interface and highly configurable document flow engine allows ILINX Capture to bring efficiencies to any department across the large and varied organization, including it’s numerous clinic locations. Ideal for ad-hoc capture, its feature-rich platform functions equally well in production level scanning scenarios. Automated features built into ILINX Capture can streamline the processing of claims and Explanation of Benefit (EOB) received yearly by the organization. ILINX can be easily configured to automatically capture the 80% of the data on EOBs that’s consistent. This benefit alone can allow the organization to repurpose some of the 15 FTEs devoted to data entry—nearly one third of the entire billing staff. The 150 workers responsible for managing the physician relations department can capture and route information associated with check credentials and monitor student progress. Time-critical enrollment and underwriting documents can be more easily processed when captured and routed electronically. The 150 employees who work 24 hours a day, processing admissions for outpatient, inpatient, lab services and radiology, can capture associated documents immediately—including those that have been faxed or emailed—providing instant access to critical information. With ILINX Capture, the bottom line to the Information Technology department can be significant. Because it’s centrally administered, it does not have to be maintained on individual desktops. And because there is no page count licensing required for ILINX Capture, it is a solution that is as affordable as it is flexible.
